THE LÄND

I had to smile when I was sitting thoughtlessly at the bus station to the Frasassi Caves, waiting for the bus, and my gaze happened to fall on this sticker.

"Nett hier. Aber waren Sie schon mal in Baden-Württemberg?"
In English: "Nice here. But have you ever been to Baden-Württemberg?"

These stickers are part of a promotional campaign by the state of Baden-Württemberg in Germany and by now they can be found all over the world (supposedly also on Mont Everest, in Chernobyl and in the Jordanian desert). They are placed by tourists who love their home state of Baden-Württemberg and are proud to be from THE LÄND.

I also have a deep affection for this state, more precisely for the Ortenau region. It was my home for the last five years during my studies. Here I have met valuable people, I have made experiences, I have grown. Here I put down roots and here I was able to leave this nest.

Embedded between the Black Forest and Alsace in France, it is characterized by rolling hills, forests and vineyards. The Marche reminds me of this homeland and maybe that's the reason why I fell in love a bit with this region of Italy, too.

Our favorites in Jesi

Something that surprised us about Jesi is that regardless of being a small place it's certainly alive. Most of what you may be looking for is present in Jesi. In this post, we will present some of our favorite places. The Library/ Signoria Palace ( Google Maps ) One of the best ways for you to get involved when you arrive somewhere new is by visiting the library- in our opinion, it usually corresponds well to what the city is. In this case, it is small, organized, with some diversity of genres, a very small selection of foreign language books, and packed. The  same words can be used to describe Jesi. Neither way don't forget to get the password for the wi-fi at the tourism office if you plan on doing some work. Gara  ( Google Maps ) If you love coffee you will certainly love Gara. Even tho their pastries may be a little overpriced coming from a bigger city like Lisbon it is surprising having such a great cappuccino for just 1,50€. The staff is super gentle and the atmosphere ...

April 2024 highlights

🌟 Reflecting on April 🌟 April was our first month here at Caritas Jesi it was an incredible month. Here are some of the highlights that made it truly memorable: Day trip to Loreto We started our journey in Loreto with servizio civile meeting where we integrated with other young people. Later we discovered the city starting with Basilica of the Holy House. It is basically the central attraction. It’s believed that is the house where the Virgin Mary lived and where the Annunciation took place. We also explored the charming streets, local shops, and traditional Italian cafes. The town offers a serene atmosphere with beautiful views of the surrounding countryside and the Adriatic Sea. We liked the vibes. Palestinian Dinner Caritas organized a fundraising dinner for Palestine. We were invited to help the staff preparations before the start of the dinner. All the food was traditional Palestinian food made by Italian-Palestinian women.  During the dinner, people expressed their solidari...

Sports in jesi

🏃🎾🏀🏆🏂🏊🏁  SPORTS IN JESI In Italy, if you want to join a sport or a gym, you have to get a medical certificate. For this medical certificate you have to get a health card, which costs money, and then take the medical exam with a doctor, and this also costs money (around 50 euros). And this medical certificate lasts only one year. Unfortunately, in all of Jessi's gyms they will ask you for a certificate to register. But on this post I am going to attach a couple of sports classes which do not require this certificate. Sca TNT - Common autonomous space It is a building where you can find different activities. It has a market where they sell fresh and natural products. It also has a bar, and it is where you will find the cheapest drinks in the city, and sometimes they have events with live music, it has a very good atmosphere. Important, they only accept cash! Of course, they also teach sports lessons. In the building you can see the classes and schedules. Ri...
